ADOPTED ON 01-09-16 – He is the ultimate “man mountain” of a German shepherd, 120 pounds of registered, 2 year old, puppy. The one! The only! Mr. Taz! Our boy is amazingly handsome, tremendously smart, super observant, totally confident and completely spoiled rotten by his previous owner. Taz was purchased as an 8 week old puppy by a lady that did not understand what is required to train and socialize a German shepherd so, quite predictably, the lady had to seek our help. During our time with Taz we found out that he responds very well to training and is doing quite well with his socialization process.

We have also found our boy to possess all of the typical desired qualities of the breed, intelligent, strong, high character, loving, strong bond and of course a strong but in control protective instinct. We have all been amazed at how fast Taz has turned things around, but then again he is a German shepherd. A dog like Taz is not for everyone, he will require commitment, honesty, time and patience but for that family that has the skills he will be well worth the effort. Having trained and developed German shepherds most of my life I can truthfully tell you that this guy is capable of being trained to do anything!

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
