ADOPTED 06-30-12 – Levi is a male German shepherd between the ages of 1 and 2 years of age, sable in color, 70 pounds in weight and above all else downright gorgeous. This guy came to us malnourished, skin lesions, every bug known to man and the strong heart of a giant, indomitable! Levi from day one refused to be a victim, moving rapidly through all aspects of his training, embracing everything we threw at him, absolutely no concept of quit. Levi is the very definition of all things German shepherd, loyal, friendly, gentle, strong bonds, protective and intelligent. His true love is spending time with ” his ” people playing gently, belly scratching, petting and just lounging, content to walk for miles or lay for hours at your feet.

Levi has passed all of his basic training programs, all with little effort. His indoctrination with other dogs reflected an understanding of what was expected, accepting the other dogs with no aggression and playing well. He was great with the tests with children, showing his gentle and protective side immediately. Levi also has accomplished his leash, house and basic command training, training he moved through readily and easily.

This wonderful guy is absolutely ready for adoption and transitioning to his forever home.

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
