GONE TO BRIDGE – 10-17-11–Willow had a good day Saturday and Sunday, holding down her food via the feeding tube. The Doctor on call over the weekend called the rescue on 10/16/11 yesterday and said Willow looked okay, not as good as Saturday, but okay. We felt like we were doing all we could do at this point and we talked about doing an ultrasound early this week even though we had already done multiple x-rays and a barium study of her digestive tract.
The Doctor contacted the rescue in the morning at 7am when she got to the clinic and said that she had just walked in and found Willow seizing in her cage in ICU. She felt like it was time and we gave her permission to end Willow’s suffering immediately.
A rescue volunteer went to the clinic on her way to work. Several of the vet techs and kennel helpers were crying. We all felt like Willow would pull through. Obviously there was more wrong than we will ever know and we just hate that the sweet little thing had to suffer. Even thought we only knew her a short time, Willow was loved and her story will be told here for others to read her story and tell others and keep her story alive–she will NEVER be forgotten:””(

WILLOW’S STORY AND PREVIOUS BIO; Meet Willow! She is a Rat Terrier mix who was born to be a lap dog! Willow is a thin 9lbs at 1 year of age and needs to gain approximately 5lbs to be up to a healthy weight. In good health despite being thin and we are working on that.
She came into the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter in West Monroe, LA as a stray. No owner came to claim her and she was put up for adoption after her 7 day stray hold. Despite going to an offsite adoption and being a calm and gentle pup when visitors came to see her, Willow was not adopted and her time soon ran out at the busy pound. Thanks to a great relationship between PAWS of NE LA and Rescue Dog Village Guardian, Inc., Willow was saved and is now looking for a forever home up north.
The shelter workers and volunteers are amazed by her gentle nature and sunny disposition. Willow definitely deserves to be treated with the same love that she gives out to everyone she meets.
Here is a video of Willow pup doing what she does best…lying in a lap. 🙂 VIDEO
Willow is a great little dog that is good with kids, other dogs, ignores cats and is doing well with potty training. THE BREED WE POST FOR DOGS ARE OUR BEST GUESS, IF IT IS A PRIORITY THAT AN ADOPTER NEEDS TO KNOW THE EXACT BREED, THEY WILL NEED TO HAVE THE DOG TESTED OR ACCEPT THAT IT IS OUR BEST GUESS AND NOT AN EXACT SCIENCE.
