ADOPTED 09-05-11 – This particular German Sheppard dog (tango) came to our rescue after his owner abandoned him at a local boarding kennel. The owners of the kennel asked for our help in placing a wonderful, well behaved and beautiful 3-5 year old animal, due to our past experiences with abandoned dogs we were a little apprehensive. Thankfully the dog was exactly what we had been told to expect, wonderful, well behaved and beautiful. Tango is fun loving but mature, he will play with other dogs, retrieve his ball until he drops but will quit on command and become your companion lying peacefully at your feet. As part of our work we check out the social skills and training of new dogs to determine our beginning point for training, in the case of tango we found him to be highly trained, socially adept and extremely bright, in other words ready to place. This guy does real justification to the positive attributes of the breed being highly alert, very trainable, dedicated to his people, highly developed

NEUTERED   *  WHITE/GREY/BLACK  *  FULLY VETTED  *  GREAT ON LEASH  GREAT WITH CHILDREN  *  GREAT WITH OTHER DOGS  *  HOUSE TRAINED   *  BASIC TO ADVANCED COMMANDS

Ped guardian instinct that is 100% under control at all times, great with all humans both adults and children and downright cocky about his abilities. Tango is definitely one of those dogs that are a couple of steps ahead of you in thinking at all times but is thoughtful enough to be patient with us slow humans.  This boy is ok with cats, tolerating them only if he must but feels you are being downright monumental in your demand.

Tango is great on a leash, handling other dogs, crowds and noise with ease. In my view this dog has done everything that has been asked of him very well and he was still abandoned, the fact that he has been able to forgive and adapt is truly amazing. I have made a personal commitment to tango to insure that he is never abandoned again or let down again. It is with this commitment in mind that I seek potential new forever family members for this most wonderful dog.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
