ADOPTED 02-08-14 -A very sad start for this little pack of pups to be introduced to a world where they are thrown out like trash within the first few months of life. A southern volunteer was alerted to their awful predicament and she pulled them from the depths of their despair, dusted them off and took them into the shelter before a trash truck arrived. These little angels could have been lost forever, but here they have a second chance at life. Now these little heart breakers are seeking a forever home, someone to show them there is love in this world, because their first owners obviously did not.

Bitsy Looking Cute

With a mix, you never know how they will turn out. It could end up with traits from a cocker spaniel or a Jack Russell. It may end up getting some traits from each of the parents. Every dog in the litter will be completely different because it’s a mix of traits. Either way, they are both great dogs so don’t worry; the traits and their temperament will be good!

This charming heart breaking story of this little pack of pups will touch the lives of many, but only one lucky family will have the chance to adopt one of them and bring her into a home filled with love and understanding. If you are a runner or need a buddy to exercise with you, this is a perfect match for you. Exercise is a must; two one hour walks (one morning, one night) are probably a good place to start. Apply for adoption today and be the one that writes the last chapter of their rescue story.

BREED SUMMARY

AN OWNER OF A RED HEALER / JACK RUSSELL MIX WROTE:

I have a Red Heeler/Jack Russell mix but he definitely took after the Red Heeler in markings and personality. Scrappy Doo is a two year old, energetic, fun loving, protective part of our family. Thankfully we have a huge back yard and he uses all of it! He has been easy to train and is very smart. He chose my 15 year old as his human and will protect all of my children if he feels they are being threatened. He is great with my 9- and 11-year-old Shih Tzus. Wouldn’t trade him for the world! He keeps our family entertained with his tricks and his idea that he might actually “get the squirrel.”

The Blue Heeler is a highly intelligent, energetic, independent and obedient dog. They love to be around humans and mix very well with children who were around them from their puppy stage. They have a courageous personality makes them excellent watchdogs. They usually weigh about 35 to 45 pounds and live for 10 to 12 years. Heelers are farm dogs by nature and seldom do well in apartments or heavily urban atmospheres.

Jack Russell Terriers are the biggest dogs you’ll ever meet in such a tiny package. They are sharply intelligent and absolutely nothing gets past them. There is no fooling a Jack Russell. They are spirited terriers, fearless and sassy with minds of their own and aren’t above causing mischief to get a laugh. They are highly trainable and are famous for their high-jumping antics. When raised alongside children, Jack Russells make fine family dogs. They are exceptional athletes who excel in the competitive arena.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
