ADOPTED ON 08-27-16 – Our newest ward, a young lady by the name of Dixie, is a sultry southern bell of (registered) German shepherd persuasion. This lady has it all, the look, the elegant body, the smooth stride, the sweet confidence, the sophistication, all in just 2 years of age. It seems that all Ms. Dixie wants out of life is “her” person to love, care for and protect. How anyone could have abandoned this girl is beyond my comprehension, it is obvious that Dixie took the slight very personally but it appears that she decided to move on and embrace life with love and openness.

To say that Dixie handled our training and socialization programs with ease is a gross understatement. Dixie has revealed a great aptitude for learning, a great love of all things human, a huge depth to her understanding and an ease of happiness. This girl is absolutely safe with children, other dogs and life in general but make no mistake, she has a strong protective instinct, one that she keeps supremely in check until required. You can probably tell by now, Dixie is very special to me and our rescue, she has been an inspiration to us all and we will miss her greatly.

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions.
