ADOPTED ON 08-01-15 – Our German shepherd rescue has had a wonderful experience working with Mr. Patton during his rehabilitation, socialization and training. Our boy is everything you could possibly imagine a great German shepherd to be. Patton has the imposing look, the beautiful appearance, the air of superiority, that wondrous gentle strength, that calm and controlled demeanor and of course that strong but in control protective instinct.

Our boy has an impressive sable coat with a full black head, a strong stable frame that will probably support at least 100 pounds in the future, a classic “shepherd” gait and of course all that goes with being a well-bred puppy of 12-18 months. To embrace Mr. Patton one must be comfortable with the wide open antics of a German shepherd puppy, meaning such things as no “off” switch, lots of energy, inquisitive, strong willed, playful. Personally I enjoy this developmental journey, watching the young pup become the man is an inspiring experience, all one needs is patience and love the dog provides everything else. What I can say with absolute certainty, as a trainer, Patton can be trained to do almost anything and he will those things better than any other dog.

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
