Peppermint Patty is a fun loving terrier x shepherd mix that is 30lbs and 1 year old. She came into the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter in West Monroe, LA as a stray. No owner came to claim her and her sweet nature earned her a shot in the adoptable section after her 7 day stray hold. Volunteers took the cute pup to an offsite adoption at Petco. There we learned that Patty had a painful ear mite infection in her ears. She would approach potential adopters but when someone reached down to pat her on the head she would whimper and fall to the ground. Despite being in terrible pain, Patty continued trying to show her love to anyone who walked in Petco and was not aggressive even when children grabbed her ouchy ears. Talk about a stoic and loving pup!! She was immediately taken to the vet for treatment for her ears.
Patty was a star patient and went back to the shelter still hoping for a home. No one showed any interest in the little black and tan dog and her time soon ran out at the busy pound. Thanks to a great relationship between PAWS of NE LA and Rescue Dog Village Guardian, Inc., Patty was saved and is now looking for a forever home up north.
PEPPERMINT PATTY is extremely lovable and gets along wonderfully well with other dogs. Take a look at these two short videos to see how charming she is!!”

Peppermint Patty is good with kids and other dogs and is doing well with potty training and crate training. She walks well on leash but does pull a bit and her foster is working on that. She has a medium energy level and enjoys playing with other dogs and toys and going for walks.
