ADOPTED ON 08-07-21 Our German shepherd rescue tends to work with some of the most abused animals in our area. This is done because our team has the background and experience to deal with the worst of the worst cases and bring about a positive result. Our present case in point is a young (2 year old) female German shepherd by the name of Mira, she is stunning, loving, intelligent and absolutely devoted. The name Mira is derived from miracle, in that it is a miracle that she is alive, it is a miracle that she is healthy, it is a miracle that she is loving and it is a miracle that she still loves humans. This girl came into our rescue immediately after being shot through and through by a high velocity rifle round. This round did not hit a large bone or organ even though it went through the upper chest area (God’s work not ours). While being x rayed we also found that she had been shot with a shotgun in the past leaving many pellets that had encapsulated and healed over (again God’s work not ours).

And Through By A High Velocity Rifle Round

Mira also had heart worms and other parasites but she decided she would whip these also, and did. Our girl also came to us malnourished, a situation that in conjunction with everything else should have killed her but then again this is our miracle girl! It has been humbling, spiritual, amazing and defining to work with this most special young lady. As we stand today Mira is extremely healthy, athletic, happy, loving and showing no mental or physical limitations (god’s guidance). Our beautiful girl is 70 pounds, has gorgeous black and tan classic coat, has great symmetry, and has a perfect gait and probably the sweetest shepherd we have ever worked with. Of course Ms. Mira knocked our socialization and training programs right out of the ballpark. Mira is great with other dogs, children and adults, she will bond very strongly to “her” person, being protective but in control. Words do not do justice to our Mira but I can tell you this, I learned a great deal more from her about life than she ever learned from me. Should you be the lucky family to adopt this girl you will become part of the continuing “miracle”.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
