ADOPTEDĀ  09-24-11 – Maxwell and his littermates were dumped at a kill shelter; they were all throw away like trash. Most of us know how a rescue story starts but to actually see the dogs and know how they came to rescue makes it is very hard to stand by and not want to try to do something. It is hard sometimes for us to sleep because we see their sweet loving faces and know that we canā€™t help them all, but hate that we couldnā€™t help when we are just too full. This is the case, we are very full but want to try to help Maxwell and his littermates, there are 2 females and 3 males.

MAXWELL isĀ sweet andĀ very chilled out.Ā  Take a look at these two short videos to see how charming he is!!”

Their story is one of chance; by chance a rescuer was at the shelter when the pups were surrendered. The whole litter was going to be put down but the rescuer looked at them and could not walk away, she was full but just could not turn her back on these babies. She took them to a foster and she does not want them to go back to the shelter but is unable to find them a home. She asked PAWS for help and Rescue Dog Village Guardian, Inc. collaborates with PAWS in hopes that they all find a loving home.

Maxwell has been given his first vaccine and bordetella vaccine; he is due for another booster but could be ready to travel as early as September 8th. He will need to have a follow up worming, but other than that, he is up-to-date. The adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, rabies vaccine, fecal, heartworm and flea prevention and the transport fee.

We believe that the dogs pick their adopters and they are meant for that family for a reason. A rescuer with RDV did not want a dog but her family begged and begged her to adopt a dog. Finally, after much discussion, she gave in and they adopted the dog. Fourteen years later, she was rescued by her dog and would not be around today to help other dogs. Could it be that the dog you adopt saves you from a fire, loneliness, fill your home with laughter, companionship? Whatever the reason, know that if you apply for Maxwell, your story started with a rescuer that could not walk away.

Please remember that when you fill out your application to include all your vet information and double check the phone number to make sure it is the right numbers. Also, call your vetā€™s office and let them know that it is ok to speak with us. This will help move your application along much faster.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on ā€œAbout the Breedā€ offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dogā€™s preferences and personality are as individual as you areā€“and if you can accept thatā€“ then youā€™re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppyā€™s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute ā€“ everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible ā€“ it needs to be specific to the puppyā€™s breed.
