Our vet has recommended that all dogs under 6 months not to spay or neuter the pups because they are too young and their bodies are not fully developed.  Adoption donation includes transport and all vaccinations, except for the Lyme—therefore, the dogs will not need to get any vaccinations for the first

LIZZIE IS BEING FOSTERED IN PRESTON, CT

ADOPTED ON 02-04-22 This is beautiful LIZZIE. She is part of a larger case that our rescuers have been involved in for some time now. It’s one of our more heartbreaking stories, and we all hope and pray we will soon see a happy ending for all the pups involved.

It all began with Della, LIZZIE’s wonderful mom, who tried desperately to care for all her pups even in her condition. Della had been living in horrid conditions for quite a while.  Rescuers had tried relentlessly to save her, but to no avail. Della’s cruel human refused her basic necessities or medical care, leaving her starving, heartworm positive, and with painful skin conditions. They also refused to get her spayed, so while she endured these other atrocities, poor

Lizzie Has The Same Soulful Eyes As Her Littermate, Hugo. She is Caring, Kind And Gentle

Della had three litters of puppies too! Her first litter was rescued, as Della’s owner really didn’t care too much about what happened to them. Happily, they are all in wonderful homes now. Her second litter “disappeared”. Saddened so greatly by this discovery, our rescue angels took matters into their own hands. Della was finally removed from that house and taken in by a wonderful elderly woman who has painstakingly nursed Della back to health. Della will remain with her, as she was able to gain Della’s trust and is now doing very well, but unfortunately, Della was pregnant when she was seized. Enter LIZZIE. A gorgeous girl who is ready to begin her own journey to a loving forever home like her mom.

LIZZIE is a beautiful 6 month old Great Pyrenees mix. She is about 50 pounds right now, and will be a large girl when she is full grown. LIZZIE has gorgeous creamy fur and a sweet face. She looks just like her brother Hugo and sister Lizzie. They have the same soulful eyes. LIZZIE is one of the sweetest pups of the litter.  Foster mom says this little girl is very gentle, and enjoys her time with her humans very much. Almost as much as she enjoys going on an adventure with her brothers and sisters!  She is very loving and attentive, watching and following foster mom all over! LIZZIE has lots of energy, but can quickly settle down and become a very large and loving lap dog!

When considering an addition to your family it is important to do some research on breeds so that everyone involved, including the new pup, will have an enjoyable transition and a lifetime of happiness. It’s important to choose breeds that blend well with your family and their lifestyle. The Great Pyrenees is a steadfast guardian who usually exhibits a Zen-like calm, but can quickly spring into action and move with grace and speed to meet a threat.

This breed is a powerful workhorse, but is just as happy lounging around the house. They are extremely affectionate with all the family members and have an average activity level. That combination makes for a wonderful companion for a family with children (we always stress that no dog or child should be left unsupervised when introducing a new dog to the home) or an active couple who enjoys hiking or going to the beach.

We are looking forward to finding these pups their forever home to honor Della and the loving mother that she is. Soon this chapter will close, and all these sweet pups will have homes. If LIZZIE is the girl for you please consider welcoming her into your hearts and home!

We go the extra mile for every dog and do whatever it takes to make sure that that dog finds happiness, we give 100% and more. It is what we enjoy doing and helps us wake up in the morning; we know that the dog is thankful we rescued them and thankful for their life. Finally, they will be forever remembered by our families that adopted them because they really rescued them.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
