Our vet has recommended that all dogs under 6 months not to spay or neuter the pups because they are too young and their bodies are not fully developed. Adoption donation includes transport and all vaccinations, except for the Lyme—therefore, the dogs will not need to get any vaccinations for the first
ADOPTED ON 09-09-21 We are so excited to have this little sweetheart and her sister with us and cannot wait to find them forever homes! It is unimaginable to think that at only 5 weeks old they were abandoned, left to fend for themselves, basically left to die, because no 5 week old puppy can survive alone. What kind of person can take innocent puppies and dump them? It’s heartbreaking to think about, but then we remember the wonderful people (and luckily there are lots of them!) who tirelessly help all these pups every day and we are encouraged once again.
Katie is a 4 month old Lab Cur mix with the most beautiful chocolate brown fur. Unlike her sister’s likeness to the Cur, Katie looks mostly like a Labrador, and she is just stunning. One look at her sweet brown eyes and those floppy ears, you will fall in love.
Katie and her sister, JoJo, were abandoned at a church at only 5 weeks old. Luckily, the rural mail carrier saw them there and contacted a local rescue about them. Thinking twice, she was so concerned about them being left alone for even one more minute, the mail lady just temporarily abandoned her mail route and drove the pups to safety. She mentioned to the rescue that “her boss was gonna kill her if he found out what she did, but that she just had to get the pups to a safe place”. Thanks to people like her, they are now safe, well-fed, and happy, and ready to begin their journey toward a loving new home.
Katie is approximately 20-25 lbs. right now, but will be a medium to large dog when she is full grown. It is important to research breeds when considering a new addition to your family to ensure that everyone, including the dog, is happy, prepared, and confident in the decision. Everyone knows the Labrador is the number one breed chosen as a family pet.
Labs are famously friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited companions who have more than enough affection to go around for a family looking for a medium-to-large dog. They are companionable housemates who bond with the whole family, and they socialize well with other dogs and humans alike. But don’t mistake his easygoing personality for low energy: The Lab is an enthusiastic athlete that requires lots of exercise, like swimming and marathon games of fetch, to keep physically and mentally fit. The Cur is an intelligent and strong-willed breed. They are bred to be working dogs and are excellent hunters. Curs are courageous fighters and extremely smart, deeming them wonderful watchdogs and protectors. Both breeds are good with other dogs and children. We always strongly suggest, however, that no dog is ever left unsupervised with children or other family pets until everyone is completely acclimated to the change in the home.
Foster mom says Katie is very sweet, gentle, and loves to be pet. She thinks she is a lap dog, and enjoys being held. Katie is not a rough and tumble, high key pup like her sister. She will fetch a ball, but there is still work to be done with returning it! She will wade into the water, but doesn’t really take to it like a typical lab. She swims great, but, unlike her sister JoJo, it’s not really her thing. In time, the Lab in her will kick in, and she’ll love it as much as JoJo does! Katie is really smart. She knows several commands already, and has already learned not to jump on anyone. She listens very well and is eager to please. Katie is really polite for a large breed pup.
Katie deserves a loving home and, in return, will bring you many years of love and companionship. Please consider opening your heart and home to this wonderful girl!
