ADOPTED ON 01-21-22: Our German shepherd rescue is now in possession of an absolute sweetheart, her name is Hope and she radiates goodness. This girl came to us by way of owner abandonment, something I will never put my head around her case. Hope is a beautiful female German shepherd, classic black and tan coat, standard female size of about 75-80 pounds and appears to be three-four years in age. It appears that she had been used as a breeder, poorly handled and ignored, having said this she has come on very strong showing great resilience.

Hope is very open, very friendly, great with other dogs, great with people, all this reflects a very determined, very sharp dog of very strong character. We Hope through all of our socialization and training modules, all of which she handled very well. We were able to determine that our girl has very strong human desire, an affinity to train, a very high intelligence and an absolute refusal to quit on herself. My work as a trainer with Hope has proved to highly rewarding and very humbling, she leaves a very large mark on your heart. With Hope you never know who is training who, she just mesmerizes you with her stoic capability of always moving forward never letting her past steal her future. If you have a loving home that will appreciate her greatness, you should definitely not miss out on miss Hope

Randy’s rescue has another super star German shepherd ready for adoption, he is big, he is beautiful, he is loving and his name is “Ruger”. Our boy came to us by way of abandonment but he has refused to be a victim, showing confidence, resilience, bravery and a total focus on his future.

Ruger is two years old, weighs in at 87 pounds going on 100 plus, has a beautiful flowing black, red and tan coat and a tall powerful build. This boy has it all, he performed extremely well in our socialization and training programs, revealing a very high intellect, a strong desire to train, great social skills and a strong but in control protective instinct.

Ruger appears to have great symmetry, perfect gait and a powerful athleticism. I can keep on but the reality is this, Ruger is an exception German shepherd that is safe with kids, adoring of adults and gets along with any dog that lets him, in other words a great family member.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
