ADOPTED 07-14-12 – Hank is an absolutely beautiful male Rottweiler that came to our rescue via a good Samaritan network that sponsored his recovery from injuries received in a severe car accident. It appears that hank refused to leave his companion that had been killed even though he had also suffered great injury, this selflessness tugged heavily on the hearts of a small group of people that said he must live. Our rescue and this group has spent the last few months assisting in the healing and recovery of this most special creature, a task that has proved to be a wonderful journey of love, learning and compassion. This effort has proved to be entirely successful, leaving a fully recovered and healthy hank along with a group that feels to have been blessed with his presence.

NEUTERED***FULLY VETTED***GREAT WITH DOGS***GREAT WITH PEOPLE*** LEASH, HOUSE AND BASIC COMMAND TRAINED

Hank is a classic black and red Rottweiler male, which is about 2-3 years in age and weighs in at a respectable 100 plus pounds. During our time with this boy we have found him to be extremely intelligent, very gentle, loving, friendly, laid back and in southern terms ” just a good ole boy “. Hank wants nothing out of life but to be with his person, sitting happily at his or her knee, being petted and loved, in return the ” person ” will be blessed with the most loyal and loving friend on the planet. At this point hank has progressed to the point that I can say he has no lasting effects from his injuries.
Hank has passed all of his socialization and training requirements, reflecting a great intellect, a love of all things ” people ” and a grace that has endeared him to the other dogs in our care. Obviously hank is leash, house and basic command trained, totally enjoying any and all time with ” his ” people. This most gentle and gracious guy is absolutely enamored with children, he actually smiles when they are around. Hank is an extra special guy and will fit in any family situation.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
