ADOPTED 10-15-12 – George, George, George! So unique, so loving, so full of life, so forgiving, so much a true gift from god to us! George (a Labrador retriever puppy)came to us (our rescue) almost 6 months ago totally devoid of any capacity to feel, divested, broken physically and emotionally, we were unable to put our hands on him for almost 4 weeks but somewhere in there a spark still fired. The individuals involved with George’s rehabilitation realized early that it would be a long journey of love with many ups and downs. Thankfully the ups over came the downs through time, allowing us to witness a revival that could only have occurred with perseverance and gods help. Today George is a phenomenally happy dog that loves to sleep with his foster parent, play endlessly with the other dogs, strongly announce the arrival of visitors and chase the villain waves back into the ocean. To say that we are proud of our boy would be an immense understatement, his recovery and his presence has been wonderful observed blessing by all.

DARK BROWN IN COLOR***NEUTERED***FULLY VETTED*** GOOD WITH PEOPLE***GREAT WITH OTHER DOGS***LEASH, HOUSE AND BASIC COMMAND TRAINED

George has come farther, through more adversity, than could rightfully be expected of any animal. The positive of all this is that this young man has not only survived but flourished, he wants the presence of his person, snuggling as long as you are willing. The only residual of George’s experience is that he still is uncomfortable with being reached for in an effort to grab, this does not present a problem in that he does come when called and he will come on to you if you kneel. Any draw backs that may still exist with this wonderful guy are greatly outweighed by his joy for life and his contagious happiness.

George is now 1 year old, weighs in at 55-60 pounds, has a beautiful chocolate brown coat, strong muscular frame and is downright gorgeous. He has also passed all of our socialization and training programs, being fully leash trained, house trained and basic command trained. As stated earlier, George is great with other dogs, he is most happy at play and he is wonderful with people, especially those that take the time to let him into their hearts. George is obviously very special to us so anyone wishing to adopt him will have to be as special as he is.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
