ADOPTED 07-23-11 –Our rescue has been working for six months with a large group ( 23 ) of Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers that were removed from a very bad environment in south Mississippi. To date we have been very fortunate in finding excellent forever homes for the vast majority of these dogs. At the present time we have only one female left, freckles the youngest of the Toller’s at 2 years of age. This young lady has stepped up to the challenge on everything we have asked of her, socializing well with the other dogs, tolerating the occasional cat and even hanging tough with rambunctious kids. Freckles is happiest being a lap dog but loves to play and exercise, though loving you is all she cares about. As is with most Toller’s this dog can be aloof with strangers but loves “her ” people with a passion and depth unique to the breed. Fun loving and happy freckles is true joy to be around, the very definition of a companion and friend.

SPAYED, FULLY VETTED, HW TREATED, ON FLEA AND HW PREVETATIVE, HOUSE TRAINED, LEASH TRAINED, GENTLE AND SWEET PERSOPNALITY,  GOOD WITH OTHER DODS, CATS AND CHILDREN, LOVES TO RIDE IN THE CAR

As the trainer of Freckles I have had the joy of watching her evolution from near feral to a well disciplined family member, capable of fitting into almost any loving environment. The family that gets this girl will be in my estimation a very fortunate family; this quality of dog is very seldom available in rescue circles. Should you have interest in freckles please contact us and allow me to answer any questions you may have, she is a very special lady.

Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
