ADOPTED 12-17-11 – UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER – We like to call her “Lizzie” for short.  Lizzie is probably the smallest of all the littermates.  She is such a sweetheart and it would tickle me to see her get a loving forever home.
Lizzie is a playful pup, but not hyperactive.  She loves to be with her person, have her belly rubbed and snuggle.  When she snuggles, she likes to bury her face into your body, generally the turn of my arm and waist.  I think that it is a precious characteristic of hers.

Lizzy is independent and shows no signs of being skittish. She has these eyes that speak volumes!  I love to look into them and wonder, just what is going on in that head of hers.  She is somewhat uncertain about GOING UP the steps, but not down. So sometimes I have to encourage her up them. She is doing well with crate/house training, but since she is a young pup, she still has a few tee tee accidents if our running around in the kitchen.  Generally, when crated, she will bark or whine to let you know she needs to go outside.  I have two children, ages 11 and 8 and she loves to run and play with them.  She shows no signs of food aggression or dominance.  She is in the chewing stage, so chew toys are necessary and correction with the mouthing.  She is pretty good about not doing it once you say, “no”. I also have other dogs, cats and chickens and she has embraced all of them well. Tex is my HUGE black lab and he and Lizzie are buddies.  It’s funny to see such a large MALE dog, be so gentle and motherly to young pups.

We have taken a few baths and she is getting used to that. She feels more comfortable about it if you hold your hand on her chest while she rests her paws on your arm.   Her fur is so easy to wash soap out of and she dries REALLY fast.  That is so unusual for me.  I have six dogs, all but two are short haired and it takes FOREVER to get the soap out of their fur.  This was a blessed relief when I realized how easy she is to bathe.

PREVIOUS BIO – Hi my name is Elizabeth and I am being fostered in the same home as my brother Kyle. We both look kind of alike, but I am a bit more dainty and ladylike.  I am a happy healthy puppy.  I am soft and cuddly and I love to give kisses. I love to play, sleep and be near my people.  I would love a family that has another dog or two for me to hang with and some kids to pal around with

Watch some short videos of all the pups at the vet’s office –
all are too cute for words…total fluffballs!  🙂

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
