ADOPTED ON 09-23-14 – Our rescue has a reputation of working with severely abused animals that exceed the scope of most rescue organizations. That reputation is why we were called to see if we could take a female German shepherd (3-4 years old ) that had become a ward of the court. It seems that Cybil had been in the room with her owner when the owner had been beaten to death. This brave girl had come to the owner’s defense but she was also beaten almost to death, you see Cybil is only about 50 pounds. Our girl had been rescued by her now deceased owner from a brutal backyard breeder that had intentionally stunted her so that he could get more dogs in the same pen. As a rule I do not usually say much about the brutality that is placed upon my rescues but in Cybil’s case it is necessary because one has to understand where she came from in order to work her. The wonderful people who work with our rescue have all shared the feelings that they were blessed to have come in contact with this beautiful spirit.

GOLD, WHITE AND BLACK COAT*** SPAYED
GOOD ON LEASH, FAIR ON BASIC COMMANDS AND HOUSE BROKEN
GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS*** LOVING TO THE PEOPLE SHE TRUSTS*** FULLY VETTED

We have worked with Cybil for almost 6 months at this writing, in this time she has progressed from a dog that was totally broken to a happy little girl with a few residual scars. Our girl will now come when called, will play ball all day, bounce happily about, lay happily and quietly about 5 feet from you with her front paws crossed and enjoy snuggling when she gets to know you. Make no mistake Cybil will always have scars that one will have to compensate for, such as initial fear, keeping her distance in tight places and not eating in your presence. Having said this Cybil is a true inspiration, a gift of character and depth, to that individual that would be willing revel in her beautiful spirit and accept her short comings.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
