ADOPTED 06-29-13 – Our boy Ranger came to us a few months ago after being abandoned by his owners (they moved off and left him in the yard); though terrified and hungry he refused to leave the area always waiting for the return of this human trash. Thanks to Good Samaritan neighbors and a lot of kind hearts in the area Ranger was fed and watered well but after four months no one was able to get their hands on this wonderful creature that always returned home at night and slept under his house. Finally our rescue was contacted to help in Rangers situation, we caught him, we won his trust, he won our hearts, we all were blessed and Mr. Ranger is an absolute definition of the perfect companion. All in our rescue wish we could take some credit in Rangers recovery but all in all our boy just used his awesome strength of will to overcome his past and move forward. As a human being you can only stand in awe of this animals strength of bond that refused to give up own “people”, yet in the end that same faith that allowed him to trust us and move forward with all of his special love, strength, character and devotion.

NEUTERED**CLASSIC COLORING** GOOD WITH PEOPLE ** GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS**LEASH, HOUSE AND BASIC COMMAND TRAINED

Ranger is a beautiful German shepherd male, 2 years of age and is about 90-100 pounds, graceful and solid presence. To date we have been able to neutralize all of the negative issues that exposed themselves as a result of being abandoned. This very special creature has revealed a depth of character, limitless love and a base of total forgiveness that has enlightened all of us who have worked with him as the true meaning of what we should be striving for. Ranger has passed all of this socialization and training programs with little effort coming away from the tasks with all of the ability to face the world. We have seen no problem with people or other animal interface but as with any rescue dog one must always be alert until the new dog is completely settled in its new environment. As with all of our dogs Ranger is leash, house and basic command trained.

If Mr. Ranger seems like a good fit as a new family member please apply but keep in mind that we believe that a settled environment with stay at home family members will give this guy and you the best experience.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
