ADOPTED 11-23-13 -This following is the beginning of BESSIE’s rescue story from her first rescuer who took her into rescue.  It takes lots of work to heal the bodies that have suffered from neglect and abuse. The emotional scars that they carry are everlasting; the foster gives their hearts to the dogs in their care and the dogs forever leave an everlasting imprint of their story with the foster and their families. We are truly blessed with wonderful volunteers who carry these dogs–every step of the way. These are the stories; they are filled with love and kindness, hardship and worry. Rescue Dog Village Guardian, Inc. is forever grateful for all that the foster does for our dogs.

BESSIE started out her life by being taken from her mother as a baby and was dumped like trash at a local shelter with her brother & sister.  There are angels in the south that know the value of a dog; BESSIE was a very lucky pup when her rescue angel caught her attention and saw the gleam of BESSIE and her brother and sister’s eyes in her car headlights on her way home as she left the 28 city pens where she volunteers.  She stopped her car and anything that she had on her list to do became second, those babies needed help. The first thing she noticed was that they were scared and was untrusting of humans—can you blame them?  The pups were malnourished and wormy, but no physical issues on any of them.

The shelter volunteer noticed that they were extremely hungry, it then became most important for her to get them some food but she knew that she had to trick them out of their safe haven in a culvert where they were hiding.  BESSIE was the last one captured because she was so shy, however, you would never know it today. After lots of love by the city shelter volunteers and her rescue angel, the pups are responding with lots of licks. BESSIE is a loving normal dog and is in excellent health today. She has warmed up nicely after 6 weeks of daily human contact and continues to be more and more social every day.

BESSIE is still a puppy and is fairly active, playful and has plenty of energy however, her foster mom says that she is not unruly. She plays well with her brother and sister, but behavior of all packs need to have one be the pack leader, BESSIE has taken on that role. This is very normal behavior with all dogs and she can easily take on a more submissive role with other dogs that are alpha.

BESSIE has the potential to be trained to be protective of property and family. She is so intelligent that you can predict what she will do under stressful situations. She has an even temperament and is loyal to all members of the family.

The Shepherd breed / Cur’s temperament has proven to be exceptionally affectionate toward women and children. They will often not let a strange man even touch them, which makes it almost impossible for her to be stolen. She will give their life, if needed, to protect her family.

We don’t know yet how she is with cats, in the car or a crate. However, these are very trainable behaviors that most dogs need to adjust to if needed. The perfect home is a place with plenty of exercise and she will do well with children.  They are getting their 3rd puppy shot on 10/31/13 and will then be allowed to be with other dogs.

BESSIE would love a family that would love to play, hug and run with her. Rescue dogs make wonderful loving pets because they know how lucky they are to be adopted. BESSIE has an amazing dog inside of her and just needs a family.
