ADOPTED 06-24-11: One of the real downsides of working in dog rescue is seeing the damage caused by incompetent and unprofessional ” breeders. These people use their animals up and then either put them down or throw them out on society, having never socialized, trained or loved incompetent poor souls. I take this abomination very personally, giving extreme effort to shut these operations down while simultaneously rescuing the dogs in these operations. The upside to this situation is that I have the joy of rehabilitating these deserving dogs, in most cases returning them to what they were meant to be, happy, loving members of human families. This brings me to Argus, a big, beautiful, gentle, calm and loving German Shepherd male, a rescue from one such breeder ” operation. When Argus was rescued he had spent his entire 5-7 years in a small pen with no loving contact of any kind, he was scared, ignorant, unsocialized and deeply depressed. This dog had every right to give up on life and of course people, Argus chose not to quit and instead chose to respond with vigor to our love and care. Over the last weeks Argus has become one of the most loving and happy dogs i have ever seen, happy to just be alive and loved. This guys transformation has been remarkable and i wish i could take credit but in this case god granted him peace.

Black And Tan, Heartworm Treated, Fully Vetted,
Lease Trained, Good With People, Kids And
Other Dogs, Basic Commands

Argus is gentle to a fault, very settled, attentive and very deep. This is a dog capable of being your best buddy, a very capable guardian, a love sponge and a superior playmate for the kids. ” gus ” will walk with you and enjoy your company but will draw the line at jogging, figures it is just unnatural. On the other hand he is more than willing to lay there as long as you scratch with conviction. If you are looking for a true friend, capable of understanding your every move, that will embrace your commitment and will love unconditionally, then you should give Argus a chance.

Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
