Our vet has recommended that all dogs under 6 months not to spay or neuter the pups because they are too young and their bodies are not fully developed.  Adoption donation includes transport and all vaccinations, except for the Lyme—therefore, the dogs will not need to get any vaccinations for the first

MASSACHUSETTS & RHODE ISLAND APPLICANTS

Rescue Dog Village Guardian Inc does not adopt to
Massachusetts or Rhode Island Residents

We cannot accept applications from Massachusetts or Rhode Isand Residents due to laws in these states which prohibit the adoption of rescue dogs.  Please see phone numbers and links to the regulator agencies regarding adopting dogs in your state, click  HERE

ADOPTED ON 04-07-23 Sassy is approximately 6 yrs. old and weighs about 5 lbs., 8oz. She was surrendered to our rescue and we don’t know details, she came from a family that had her for many years and took very good care of her so we know that she was loved. Sassy is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Sassy’s foster describes her as 5 lbs. Of pure joy. She is curious and likes to watch everything you do, she does not want to miss a thing. Even though it is a new world for her, she takes it in stride and soaks up all her wonderful new life with eagerness to learn more. She loves going for walks, rides in the car and dances for his dinner.

Sassy is as “sweet and cuddly” our foster mom tells us. She adds that she is friendly as she can be and she just wants to be with her person. She will sit on your lap, cuddled next to you on the couch and snuggled with you in bed. She has a cute strut as she follows you from room to room.

ABOUT THE BREED

Out of 90 breeds, the Yorkie ranks 17th in terms of intelligence. The Yorkshire Terrier is one of the most intelligent breeds and known for its quirks and fun personality. As a Yorkie owner, you will need to invest the time to understand your Yorkie to provide a comfortable lifestyle and build fun memories. As you get to know your Yorkie, you’re bound to develop a strong bond that will never be broken!

Yorkshire terriers, affectionately known as the “Yorkie,” and belong to the terrier group. As a general rule, terriers tend to be strong-willed and energetic dogs. The Yorkie is no exception. But you’ll also find a pet Yorkie to be affectionate, loyal, and protective.  Some Yorkshire Terriers are indeed dedicated cuddle-bugs. But others act more like tiny terriers, with instincts to chase anything that moves and warn off strangers with a sharp shrill bark. They are loved by humans that love a lapdog but that doesn’t necessarily mean all Yorkies like to sleep on laps all day.

The biggest problems that are reported with Yorkies is that they have to do with how their owners treat them. If you carry your Yorkie everywhere, you’re telling her that you think the world is too terrifying for her to walk around in.

Rescue Dog Village is looking for a forever family for Sassy, someone who enjoys the little things in life like cuddling on the couch and just hanging out on their human family. If you want a best friend, who is devoted to her family, then Sassy is your gal.

Sassy is healthy and ready to go to her new home. If you are considering opening your heart and home to her, you will have an amazing companion dog. This gorgeous gal is in great shape and has loads of love to share with that special family. Get your application in.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
