Our vet has recommended that all dogs under 6 months not to spay or neuter the pups because they are too young and their bodies are not fully developed. Adoption donation includes transport and all vaccinations, except for the Lyme—therefore, the dogs will not need to get any vaccinations for the first
ADOPTED ON 03-13-20: Dexter is a very brave courageous dog who is up for anything; he is a smart dynamic affectionate companion to humans and dogs. He is very obedient and listens very well to what is asked of him. He absolutely loves human interaction and wants nothing more than to please his human. His foster tells us that “just when you think you’ve met a lot of dogs with the most surprising and charming personalities, another one comes along and makes you say “Now that pup has a charismatic character.” This is Dexter, he is the most adorable puppy ever. He flirts with the camera and will strike a pose till he is sure you have the picture.
Dexter is very young, he is 7-8 months, Silver German Shepherd / Australian Shepherd mix and has gained weight and, like Darla, he haven’t missed any meals. Their foster tells us that: these are some of the smartest little puppies that she has ever fostered! They catch on extremely fast and will make excellent companions to some lucky family!”
DARLA (link to her bio) AND DEXTER CAME TOGETHER— THEY ARE VERY FOND OF EACH OTHER THEY ARE NOT SIBLINGS….HOWEVER, THE FOSTER SAYS SHE WOULDN’T SAY THEY WERE BONDED SO STRONG THAT THEY COULDN’T BE SEPARATED…BUT, THEY COULD BUT THEY ARE REALLY GREAT TOGETHER
Dexter and Darla’s Rescue were rescued together, sadly, they belong to an alcoholic. We never think of dogs being victims of alcoholics, they can’t understand the disease or go to meetings for help. Their owners never took care of them as they should. The poor dogs roamed constantly on search of food and came to our southern partner’s house several times to eat—they knew they would get fed there. They also frequently went to the neighbors’ homes, then, calls started coming in to our partner from several neighbors, Dexter and Darla were at their houses in search of food. These sweet babies were grateful, they were never destructive, only sniffing and hunting for food.
The situation became urgent when they were at our partners home; as they got close to her house … they almost got hit by oncoming traffic. That was it, she could not sit back any longer, her heart went out to these two precious dogs, she felt that they deserved better than an alcoholic/ drug dependent owner who only feeds them occasionally—that is if they remember to and have enough money for food! On this final visit, not only did she feed them but they both joined her pack right away without any problems. After several weeks, not one time did anyone come looking for them or asking about them. It was clear that Darla and Dexter were not really valued and loved as they deserve. Both are wonderful dogs who deserve a great life!
An ideal home for him would be one where he can be with his humans and go with them wherever he goes. He has a laid-back personality so he would be a great match if there was another dog to play and romp with and share his days, though it’s not mandatory. A fence would be helpful however, if he is walked, he will need extra walks until he is older. He adores humans and he always will repay him appreciation with unconditional devotion. This attentive and smart little guy is just looking for love and a home. He has proven himself to be utterly deserving of the best and we are committed to see that he gets that.
Dexter is ready for a forever home; he is a handsome boy and will make a wonderful companion for any family. He is in excellent health, ready to leap into your heart and go to his fur-ever home. Our adopters are the most wonderful people who stand to be the last chapter of their rescue story, and the first chapter of their new forever lives! A puppy is a delight, but is also a huge commitment. In return, Dexter will be a faithful companion and bring you years of joy. Will you open your heart to him and give him the love he so deserves? If you are the type that want to make a difference this year to a deserving dog in need, Dexter will thank you every day and fill your life with laughter and licks.
ABOUT THE BREED GERMAN SHEPHERDS:
German Shepherds are friendly but have calm confidence about them, they may seem kind of reserved. Most GS owners say that the characteristics of German Shepherds are that incredibly loyal, and friendly. When in need, however, a German Shepherd is instantly ready to protect, play a game or perform a task—in some cases as a guard dog, police dog, herder or seeing eye dog. With a strong work ethic and an eager intelligence, GS breeds are good with other dogs and children especially if they have been exposure to them.
