ADOPTED 12-31-13 – FOSTER UPDATE: Solo is growing into a fine young man. He has made leaps and bounds in growing much more comfortable with new faces. Solo feels most confident when his foster brother/sister pups are around him. He loves them very much! Solo is a very well behaved boy who is always trying to make us happy with his silly behavior. At just 1 year old, he impresses me with his willingness to try and learn new things. Solo has come such a long way from when he first arrived. He truly is a great dog. He would make a great addition to a family looking for a forever family pet. He is not overly active as some new pups can be, in fact he loves cuddling the best. Solo would be grateful to anyone that shows him the true meaning of love. Please give this boy a chance!! – Solo’s foster Mom

Imagine that you are a young pup and you are living outside, hungry, terrified and left to deal with the elements of rain, wind and cold. While this is the story that was the beginning for Rescue Dog Village Guardian, Inc., it was Solo’s beginning to life. Found by southern angels that could not walk away, Rescue Dog Village Guardian, Inc. received a plea for help and could not say no. Taking on a pup is a huge responsibility and the chances that the life of a pup that has been living outside will be successful, has the odds stacked against them; in most cases, it does not turn out well. Parvo and other life threatening diseases prey on the sick and young, however, that did not sway the 2 southern angles; their heroic dedication is contagious.

Solo is intelligent and stunningly beautiful, this affectionate dog will make a superb companion for the right family. He is a tender and loving animal, gets along very well with other dogs but can be a little stand offish with people at times. He is now living in a warm loving foster home and thanks to his foster mom, he has made progress warming up to people. He is a healthy happy boy, fully vaccinated, neutered and up-to-date on all vaccinations. Rescue dogs make wonderful loving pets because they know how lucky they are to be adopted. He has an amazing dog inside of him and just needs a little time to come out and will flourish with the love and care from a family who is willing to go the extra mile with him.

If you want to be rescued by SOLO and you have what it takes to be his owner and want to be the happy ending that we promised him, fill out an application right away.  He is a wonderful dog, very sweet and gentle; we know there is a home where he can live the rest of his life in happiness.  We are committed to giving him nothing but the best!

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW

RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog’s preferences and personality are as individual as you are–and if you can accept that– then you’re bound to enjoy each other.

Children & Pets

Animal Behavior Guidelines

Many children, especially very young ones, do not realize that pets are living animals and not toys. Failing to teach a child how to handle pets properly can result in suffering on the part of the pet and, in some cases, injury to the child. Taking introductions slowly will allow you to introduce family dogs and your children safely

Puppy Behavior, Growth & Development

Each stage of Puppy Growth and development is fascinating; by the time it reaches its first birthday a puppy is considered a mature, adult dog. Puppy Growth rate is fast compared to humans, just compare a puppy of 8 weeks to a baby of the same age.

One of the most common questions asked about a puppy’s growth and development rate refers to the eventual size of the puppy. How big will the puppy grow? How can you determine the adult size of a puppy? A young puppy is tiny and cute – everyone loves puppies! But will the puppy be suited to your environment? How much exercise will be required for a full grown dog? Will the puppy be a suitable pet for children? The breed of the puppy will determine the answers to these questions. A general response to the size and growth rate of a puppy and the adult size of a puppy is therefore not possible – it needs to be specific to the puppy’s breed.
